HISTORY AND TRADITION
Ulexite is a hydrated calcium and sodium borate (boronatrocalcite). It is a rare mineral of the borate class, discovered by the German chemist G. L. Ulex in 1849 in the north of the Republic of Chile, near the city of Iquique. A year later, the young student G. performed. L. Ulex's role in this was that the scientific community changed the name “boronatrocalcite” to “ulexite” in honor of the discoverer.
Based on the mineral's properties, its chemical composition, and appearance, there are other names for the stone:
Ulexite, along with other minerals, is also called "cat's eye" due to the presence of a characteristic shimmering stripe along the surface, resembling a cat's pupil.
Cat's eye is Alexandrite, which is a variety of chrysoberyl. It was named after the Russian Tsar Alexander II., which was discovered on his birthday in 1834. Since then, people have considered this semi-precious stone a stone of luck and success, which helped them achieve positive work results. It was believed that the cat's eye helped them ward off poverty and attract wealth. In Arab culture, it is even considered a fertility stone. It is therefore often called the stone of new beginnings.

Artificial ulexite differs from natural stones in its higher hardness. Especially in jewelry, a synthetic stone is used, which can be found in shades ranging from bright blue, purple, pink, yellow, and green to dark black, as well as pure white. They are used to make earrings, pendants, beads, and amulets.
