• Asbestos is a parallel fibrous stone with a high iron content. It also contains asbestos, which appears in veins on the mineral. Outwardly, the stone resembles shaggy grass; some specimens appear like a "cat's eye". Asbestos actinolite is very brittle; its fibers can break apart when the stone is lightly touched, and upon contact with water, its crystals begin to stick together. It is also used in the production of acid-resistant materials. The mineral is found in fissures of volcanic rocks; its deposits are in the Urals, northern Kazakhstan, the northern Caucasus, Mongolia, and Tuva.
• Bissolite, or actinolite cillerite, is formed during the hydrothermal alteration of basic rocks of crystalline schists. Deposits - Canada, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Algeria, Uzbekistan and the Northern Urals (circumpolar region).

Actinolite – translated from Greek as "radiant stone" – is a mineral from the amphibole group, of the silicate class. The stone got this name because of the presence of many crystals that resemble rays. Other names for the mineral are smaragdite, tremolite, or emerald cord. The main components of the mineral are iron and silicon, which give the stone its characteristic green color.

• Actinolite has been known to people since ancient times, but it was first described in 1794 by Richard Kirwan, after whom it was named.
