The rarest blue shimmer is typical of moonstones from Sri Lanka; gemstones from India may also contain additional color shades of inclusions in the colors of the rainbow.
VARIETIES
Adularia - A translucent or transparent gemstone which - unlike other minerals in its group - does not have microfractures in its structure. Its characteristic feature is the presence of blue iridescence (experts call this adularescence).
It does not display multicolored flashes or rainbow overflow, but when cut as a cabochon, it exhibits a "cat's eye" effect (or single-ray asterism). Adularia crystals have a unique three-dimensional depth. This is the rarest, and therefore very expensive, type of moonstone.
The best specimens are obtained: in Russia (in the Urals, Chukotka, and Siberia), in India, and on the island of Sri Lanka.
Belomorite - A translucent milky white or matte snow-white mineral with a bluish tint.It is named after the White Sea, on whose coast its deposits were discovered. Its iridescence looks like an alternation of small multicolored flashes painted in red and bluish-green tones. The surface of even polished stones is often covered with a network of visible cracks.
