COLOR
- By day it looks like some kind of salt crystal, and at night it fascinates anyone who sees it with its strange luminescence.
- Hackmanite is light to dark purple in color shortly after mining, but once exposed to sunlight, the color quickly fades and changes to grayish or greenish-white. When placed back in a dark room or exposed to short-wave UV light, the purple color slowly returns. The color change can occur within a few seconds if exposed to sunlight, but returning to the original color can sometimes take up to a week. This effect can repeat continuously, but it is permanently destroyed by high heating.Under UV light, it then glows a pink-orange color.

HISTORY AND TRADITION
Hackmanite is an exceptionally rare, sulfur-rich variety of sodalite that exhibits tenebrescence. It was first discovered in Greenland in 1896 by L. C. Boergstroemem.Hackmanite is named after Victor Axel Hackman, a geologist in Finland, and its production is extremely rare.Hackmanite is a photochromic mineral, a “superpower” that slowly deepens in color when exposed to light, heat, and radiation. People called it: The magical color-changing stone!
For scientists, his extraordinary abilities remained a mystery for a long time
However, it escaped the interest of jewelers until recently (1991), when the first high-quality faceting hackmanite was found, discovered in Quebec, Canada.
